seed NIC

NIC on which a new firmware image is uploaded. Each NIC can store two complete images. During a firmware upgrade, the old unused one is deleted to make space for the new one. The new image is uploaded to about three percent of all NICS. A code float enables all non-seed NICs to acquire the image from any directly neighboring NIC, seed or non-seed, that has the image.
